Safari Supper
On Saturday 20th August 2016 there was a charity meal and fun auctions to raise funds for the islands choirs. The next choir competition is in Stornoway and funds were being raised to fly the choir members there.
A bus collected guests from various pick-up points around the island and then took them to the distilleries at Lagavulin, Ardbeg, and Laphroaig for a three course meal with a course at each. There were canapes at Lagavulin, a main course of chicken casserole at Ardbeg and a selection of very professional desserts at Laphroaig. Of course complimentary drams of the local whiskies were available: Lagavulin 8 year old, Ardbeg 10 year old and Uigeadail, Laphroaig 10 year old and Triple Wood. The guest mix was about 60% locals and the remainder tourists.
The evening raised £7515 from the auction and around £3000 from ticket sales at £55 each.
